Horace Andy - Living it Up
Documentary
I had the extraordinary opportunity to work alongside some of the greatest musicians and composers of Jamaican music — including Gregory Isaacs, Horace Andy, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare — recording and documenting the making of reggae music from the inside.
For this project, I had access to the legendary Jamaican studios and to the musicians themselves: the rehearsals, the conversations, the live takes, the mistakes, the magic — and, most importantly, the music being created right in front of the camera.
What began as a documentary became something much more personal: an intimate tribute to the way a reggae album is made, at the very heart of Jamaica.
There are around twenty films from this adventure, bringing together performances, studio sessions and behind-the-scenes moments with some of the artists who shaped Jamaican music.
So take your time.
Pour yourself a drink, grab a beer, sit back — and let these films take you to Jamaica.
This is not just a documentary. It is a journey into the sound, the people and the soul of reggae.
